Islamabad: Security at the churches beefed up as the occassion of New Year

Capital police has beefed up security of churches n the city as New Year draws nigh.

According to details, the Capital Police decided on Wednesday, December 30 to step up deployment of police men at the churches at the occasion of New Year. In addition to the churches, it has been decided to install extra police force around shopping centers, markets and various other main roads of the Capital city on the eve of New Year.

In keeping with the Central Police Office (CPO) Islamabad, about 500 policemen are expected to be deployed so that fool proof security is ensured. Moreover, the security personnel will be keeping a watchful eye during the New Year’s celebrations. In addition to this, the traffic police will also be coordinating with the city police in order to maintain the law the order situation on the occasion.

According to a police official from the Capital Police Office (CPO) Islamabad, the Inspector General of Police Islamabad- Tahir Alam Khan has issued orders to deploy police contingent at all important places in the city including shopping centers, churches, main roads and main markets for the safety of public on the occasion of New Year.

While the Islamabad Police Chief has urged the citizens to behave as civilized people and avoid from any reckless activity on the occasion. SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani and SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob have prepared plans for security and traffic, while police contingent will be deployed at all important places including shopping centers, main markets and other such places.

Furthermore, Police Commandos will be deployed at various places in the city. In this regard, all the Police Stations in Islamabad have been directed to keep fool proof security arrangements in their area of responsibility.
