ISLAMABAD: Renowned Christian leader of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N); Kamran Michael takes up the seat of Federal Minister for ports and shipping

In line with the details, Kamran Michael, a Minority leader from the wining party in the Elections 2013, PML-N has assumed the seat of Federal Minister for ports and Shipping.



Federal Minister Kamran Michael has been member of the Punjab Assembly formerly, whereas in past times, he has been engaged in imperative positions in the Government such as Minister for Minorities’ Affairs, Minister of Human Rights and Minister of Women Development, additionally he has been member of the Special Committee-I. He was also elected as an MPA of Punjab Assembly for the years 2002 till 2007.



Mr. Kamran Michael son of Mr. M. L. Michael was born on October 9, 1973 in Lahore. He earned his B.A Degree in 1995 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. Later, he took on Business as profession, whilst serving as Member of District Assembly Lahore during 2001-02; owing to his popularity he secured a seat in the Punjab Assembly in General Elections 2008 against one of the eight seats reserved for non-Muslim minorities. Victorious from NM-364, Kamran Michael took oath in company of other newly selected Federal Ministers; Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Abdul Qadir Baloch, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Rana Tanvir, Khwaja Muhammad Asif, Saad Rafiq, Zahid Hamid, Sardar Yousuf, Pervez Rasheed,Sikandar Bosan, Sadruddin Rashdi, Ahsan Iqbal, Barjees Tahir and Murtaza Jatoi.



President Asif Ali Zardari, verging on the New Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif conducted the oath to the new cabinet, signalling the zenith of the shift of power from one civilian government to another. At this occasion, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, the Services Chiefs, Parliamentarians, Diplomats and other senior officials witnessed the swearing in ceremony.



While on the other hand, Former member of Sindh Assembly Michael Javed, Minority leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Riaz Naazir, Saleem Watoo, Akash Riaz, Mrs. Michael Javed, Chowdhry Boota Masih and others extended their heartiest felicitations to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his cabinet, whilst congratulated Kamran Michael on assuming the post of  Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping. They also expressed hope that he will be able to take up the responsibilities efficiently even as a playing positive role in solving the problems of the religious minorities of Pakistan. They also expressed a deep desire that he will strive for “Dual vote” right for the minorities. Moreover, anticipating that he will be able to get the bill of increase in seats for Minorities, passed from the Parliament, which has been pending up till now.
