KARACHI: 7 more bodies recovered from the Clifton beach as the death toll reaches 32.
27 dead bodies were recovered from the raging waves yesterday on July 31, despite warnings of strong currents these ventured into the seas during the Eid holidays. In addition, 24 bodies were recovered from Sea View, 2 from Paradise Point and 1 from Hubco.
According to reports 7 people are still missing while the rescue operation is in progress. Navy has chipped in with the rescue services when Navy helicopters and divers offer extensive services alongside municipal authorities rescue teams. However, due to rough conditions at sea, Edhi’s rescue teams have been asked to stay away from water.
Section 144 is imposed on swimming at sea, which bans the gathering of more than four people at one place for rallies and protests etc. However, there are reports of fights between families trying to picnic at the beach and the police, as the police barred them from heading to the seashore.
