Kasur: A Christian’ house torched by foes over financial dispute

A Christian’ house torched by foes, the incident is marked by police’ inaction. The incident took place on June 18 at about 2 a.m. when four to five men stormed into Farooq Masih’ house. What is more, they opened fired at his father and injured him badly. However, there was no loss of lives as a result of the fire or firing.

Shortly, after the incident, Farooq made a phone call on the emergency helpline and the SHO arrived at the scene however, despite being at the scene he did not take any action against the culprits. The culprits have been identified as Muhammad Naveed, Sharif, Hameed and Muhammad Haneef. It was also reported to the SHO that they fired at Jorah Masih, father of Farooq Masih, and injured his hand.

Farooq Masih disclosed that he had lent 52,000 Rupees to them. When he demanded them to return his money, Muhammad Naveed snatched his motorcycle and refused to return the loan. This gave rise to a brawl between the two. Nonetheless, police personnel acted as mediators and managed to get the dispute settled between Farooq and Naveed.

Nevertheless, despite the matter was resolved by the police, Muhammad Naveed and his accomplices acted in vengeance and set Farooq Masih’ house on fire and injured his elderly father. In the wake of customary dithering on police’ part, Farooq decided to approach DPO Kasur and narrated his plight to him.
