Christians were saved from the clutches of Islamists when Muslims refused separate themselves from them.
According to details, Christians who were travelling on a bus from Nairobi to Mandera was attacked by terror group Al-Shabaab militants. The militants asked the Muslims to separate themselves from Christians so that they could kill them.
While speaking in this regard, the Deputy County Commissioner Julius Otieno said that the Islamist attackers told the passengers to land from the vehicle and tried to divide them between Muslims and non-Muslims. “They were trying to identify who were Christians and who were not. They told the non-Christians to return to the vehicle.”
Moreover, the Governor of Mandera- Ali Roba said that the passengers utterly refused to split and courageously told the attackers to either kill all of them or leave. “This forced the militants to leave in a hurry fearing retaliation by residents from nearby villages. The locals showed a sense of patriotism and belonging to each other by insisting that the Al-Shabaab should kill them together or leave them alone.”
Governor Ali Roba said that some of the Muslims had also been injured “trying to protect non-Muslims in the bus.” Details reveal that two people died while three of them were injured in this incident.
Governor Roba added that Al-Shabaab fighters sneaked into Kenya in groups of six to 15. The largest groups, he said, comprised 30 militants. These militants had been endeavouring to radicalise the local Muslim villagers, but, so far, have found no success.
This is beyond doubt that the Kenyan Christians who were on that bus had been saved from definite death by their fellow Muslim passengers who plainly refused to be separated from them, when he Islamists ambushed their bus.
