Lahore: Christian girl kidnapped at gunpoint, Christians calling for her extrication

A 24-year-old Christian girl kidnapped by unknown men at gunpoint. The incident took place on May 12, Thursday in Lahore’ Bahar Colony. Eyewitnesses disclose that three men took her away at gun point around 2: 30 pm. She was abducted in front of the F.G.A Church in the neighborhood, which falls into the jurisdiction of the Liaquat Abad Police Station.

Christians call for rescue of Marriam Mushtaq

The abductee Marriam Mushtaq studies at an adult education center which is located in front of the F.G.A Church Bahar Colony. She was on her way to the education center along with her class fellows when three men laid hands on her and carried her off even though her class fellows screamed for help. The eye witnesses of this incident later revealed that the abductors used a white colored Toyota car whose number is LEA 5393. They further claim that they saw three men and a woman sitting in the car. This incident has left local Christians terrified as girls are not even safe in broad day light.

So far, an FIR has not been registered by the police meanwhile the Christians who are a bundle of nerves staged a peaceful protest at Ferozepur Road, calling for an immediate action against the abductors. PTI leader Rana Anjum, Christian activist Akhtar Bhatti and Pastor Samuel Khokhar were present along with several local Christian leaders. They demanded that police should respond to the situation where incidents of abductions of girls have increased alarmingly. In about a week’s time more than 16 girls have been kidnapped in Lahore. The Christian community called upon the Chief Minister of Punjab Shabaz Sharif to look into the matter and ensure an immediate liberation of Marriam Mushtaq.

Kidnapping incidents in Lahore
