Lahore: Political activists blatantly impede construction of Christian’s house

Adherents of a mainstream political party have reportedly obstruction work of a Christian. The alleged perpetrators namely Sajida Billo, Sheikh Imran and Humanyun had obstructed the construction work of a house in Lahore’s Fazalia Colony. The under construction house belongs to a local Christian who hails from a meager background. The alleged men are using their political influence while police is purportedly supporting the guilty party.

Rehana Kausar Bibi and her son Rashid the victims claim that police is trying to harass them, “whenever our laborers start construction work, police detains them. They further disclosed that the political workers are threatening to file a fabricated blasphemy case against them.” They further said that the police are showing partiality.

Ms. Rehana further told that she had raised the money for construction work with great labor. When the construction work started, her neighbor Humanyun constructed an illegal window towards her house. She said that PTI’s worker Sajida Billo and Sheikh Imran started intimidating her trying to stop the construction work claiming that they had obtained a stay order against the construction work.

“The property belongs to me,” Rehana Bibi said, “My husband Inayat had named me as the legal owner of the property.” Her son Rashid said alleged that police are misusing their authority. They are not being protected instead police are backing the land mafia. “We are rendered without shelter; we spend days and nights without a roof over us. Whenever it rains the construction material will be affected. We call upon Chief Minister of Punjab to help us get rid of the land mafia who are trying to intimidate us,” he said.
