Christians in Libya have appealed for prayers following the weekend massacre of 30 Ethiopians on the shores of Libya. A total of 30 Christians from Ethiopia were killed by Islamic State (IS) terrorists and the execution was recorded on a video which was released later on.
“Please support us in Libya with your prayers; especially the Arabic-speaking congregations of migrants need prayer. These churches are mainly attended by Ethiopian and Eritrean Christians.” pleaded a local Christian.
Libya has become a hub for migrants across Africa hoping to cross the Mediterranean to enter Europe for work and better lives. Hundreds die on the deadly journey across the ocean and scores are beheaded by ISIS.
In February a group of 21 Egyptian Christians were beheaded in Libya by Islamic State and after the recent shooting and beheading, people have become frightened, discouraged and disappointed. They have appealed to the global Christian community to pray that the Lord works in their land and gives peace to the persecuted.
