“The population is locked in the house while they is ongoing fighting in the outlying areas of the city”, says His Exc. Mgr. Sylvester Carmel Magro, Apostolic Vicar of Benghazi where the forces of general Khalifa Haftar have announced an offensive against Islamist groups who control the capital of Cyrenaica.
“The bombings began in the early morning today”, said Mgr. Magro on October 15. “There are no clashes in the city centre, which are concentrated in the suburbs. But we do not know how the situation will evolve. This is why we are all locked in the house”, says the Apostolic Vicar. “In these conditions, we do what we can. Please pray for us”, concluded the Bishop.
