Archbishops Giorgio Linqua, the apostolic nuncio in Jordan, has disclosed that Vatican officials are convinced that military action will not be sufficient to break the growing power of the Islamic State.

Archbishop Lingua said that in order to mount an effective campaign against Islamic extremism, responsible Muslims must cut off support for the jihadists. “It is important to check what is taught in the Islamic schools and mosques, and take immediate and effective actions when violence and intolerance are promoted,” he said.
