Federal Minister for Water and Power has been urged to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity during the Holy Week. For this purpose, Khalil Tahir Sandhu, Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs, Punjab has written a letter to Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari Federal Minister for Water and Power.
The letter dated March 21, 2018 reads as follows:
“SUBJECT: UN-INTERRUPTED SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY DURING EASTER &HOLY WEEK OBSERVANCE 2018
The Holy Week leading to Easter is celebrated all over the world and this year starting 30th March 2018 with Good Friday, 31st March 2018 Holy Saturday, 1st April 2018 Easter Sunday and 2nd April 2018 Easter Monday, all days inclusive. To enable and facilitate the Holy Week & Easter observance, it would be highly appropriate and desirable that the schedule of load shedding is dispensed with from 30th March 2018 to 2nd March 2018. It is significant to reiterate the importance and significance of during midnight mass services, vigils and day services throughout 30th March 2018 and 2nd April 2018 for religious observance.
2. It is already commendable and appreciated that load shedding is barely existing currently, however, keeping in mind the sensitive acts of terrorism, it would, therefore, be just and appropriate if load shedding schedule is graciously dispensed from 30th March 2018 to 2nd April 2018 to promote and strengthen interfaith harmony and feelings of brotherhood amongst religious minorities.
(KHALIL TAHIR SANDHU)
Minister for Human Rights &
Minorities Affairs, Punjab”
