More than 23 Blasphemy cases were registered against Christians in Pakistan last year.
The case of Rimsha Masih got most hype from local and international media. But there are numerous such incidences which go absolutely unheeded. Christians in Pakistan are apprehensive about rising hostility towards them. The Christians of the country often put across their anxiety over the fact that Government is “all talk” and is taking no actions to improve their status as second class citizens of Pakistan. While the Government of Pakistan has made many amendments in the Constitution, no amendments were made in the Blasphemy Law. In the view of prevailing opposition, it may be said that 2013 may bring more persecution to Christians in Pakistan.
