At least 7 people have been reportedly killed as multiple suicide attacks hit Charsada’s Session Court today Tuesday February 21. Rescue officials have confirmed that the explosions had left at least 20 injured, who were shifted to Charsadda Tangi Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
Dr. Gul Rahim from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) said that three dead bodies were received at DHQ. While remarking in this regard, Sohail Khalid DPO Charsada stated: “The explosions took place at the entrance of the sessions court.”
The security forces neutralized three suicide attackers who were attempted to wreak havoc at the court. District Nazim Fahad Khan stated that at least 7 people have been killed in the attack. A faction of Taliban Jamaat-ul-Ahraar has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The security forces killed one bomber during an exchange of firing at the gate, whereas the second bomber was killed as he entered the court. The third bomber was killed when he detonated his explosives.“One of the suicide bombers tried to enter the court, however, was shot dead by security officials,” an eyewitness said.
Another eye witness stated: “One of the attackers lobbed a hand grenade at the gate of the court and then opened firing.” In line with another eye witness, five people were critically injured when the initial blast took place. Consequently, Police and Law Enforcement Agencies have cordoned off the area while emergency has been declared at hospitals in Charsadda and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.
