Interior Minister Chaudry Nisar has urged the provincial home departments to conduct a security audit for minority communities in Pakistan and prepare a special security plan for Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Ismailis and Bohras by next week.
In a meeting on Thursday, he told provincial police chiefs that minorities should be their priority. This comes in after a series of recent attacks on a range of minorities within Pakistan.
The Sindh government has ordered the chief of Sindh Police to begin a process of registering minority places of worship so that we can know their number and their location. This is because of places of worship have been seized by land mafias like the recent case on Jerusalem Church in Karachi.
Analysts also believe that this is because minorities are losing trust in the government and fleeing the country to seek asylum. Therefore the government now deems it important to protect them..
