New York: Pakistani Christians to hold memorial service for Christian lawmaker Michael Javaid

Pakistani Christians community based in the New York has decided to hold a memorial service for the ex-MPA Michael Javaid. This memorial service will be a joint venture of Pakistani Christian community of New York and Pakistani Christian Diaspora in the USA. Michael Javaid had passed away earlier in September in Karachi.

Pakistani Christian politician passes away in Karachi

On October 29, Saturday the memorial service will be held at 44-16, 192 Street off Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY 11358. The gathering is intended to pay homage to 30 years of his tireless efforts for the Pakistani Christians and other minorities. The event will start at 5:00 pm, and a large number of Pakistani Christians in expected to attend the service. On September 28, Michael Javaid passed away in Karachi as a result of a fatal heart attack. Member Provincial Assembly of Sindh Michael Javaid suffered from stroke prior to the heart attack.

The attendees will be welcomed by Pervez Rafiq ex-MPA Punjab, Rev. Dr. Sammie Samson, Arif Khokhar, Naeem Sindhu, Javaid Khokhar, Albert Massey and Mr. Alfred – as members of the organizing committee of the memorial service.

Ex-MPA Michael Javaid who was chairman of Pakistan Minority Front was widely acclaimed for his services for the Christian community, he had taken up the issues of inter faith harmony, sectarian injustice and many other social issues prevalent in the society.

Ex- MPA Michael Javaid was elected as member of Sindh Assembly four times between 1988 to 2002.During his political career; he was associated with mainstream political parties including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
