LAHORE: Police force deployed around Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s residence apparently to stop him from anti-government movement.
According to details, dozens of policemen and hundreds of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters take their stance for a confrontation around the residence of Dr Tahirul Qadri in Model Town. This deployment is seen as the government’s attempt to prevent him from leading his anti-government movement.
Around 2,000 Pakistan Awami Tehreek supporters carrying sticks and shields had camped in an area opposite Dr. Qadri’s residence; as police blocked all roads leading to the area by placing heavy containers. Apart from this all entry and exit points leading to the Minhajul Quran Secretariat were also blocked by the police. This blockade is seen by the PAT’s workers as a plan to impede PAT’s August 10 protest call.
This stressed confrontation came hours after a case under the Anti-terrorism Act against Qadri was registered for allegedly stirring people to rebel against the government.
