Pakistan Bans 212 Militant Organizations

The ministry of Foreign Affairs and the interior Ministry have banned 212 organizations collectively. In a move that would not have been expected, 212 outfits were declared proscribed and related lists and other documents were presented in the Supreme Court.

Jamaatud Dawa, the organization blamed for 2008 terror attacks in India, is allegedly a cover up used by the Lashkar-e-Jahngvi. It has been put on the watch list by the interior ministry.

The move comes in as a paradigm shift in the country’s security policy.
The organizations declared as proscribed are as follows:

1) Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
2) Jaish-e-Muhammad
3) Lashkar-e-Tayyiba
4) Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan
5) Jamiat-ul-Furqan
6) Ansar-ul-Islam
7) Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan
8) Rabita Trust
9) Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement
10) Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan
