Pakistani Christian Prisoner was beaten up due to his Christian faith

Last week of February, Peter John, a prisoner in Central Jail Adyala, Rawalpindi was beaten up viciously by the prison staff due to his Christian faith.

Chairman Sharing Life Ministries Pakistan, Sohail Johnson asserted that Christian prisoners are treated in an awfully cold-blooded way in Pakistan’s jails. The attacks on Christian prisoners are very common inside the prisons in Pakistan.

In last week of February, Peter John, prison in Central Jail Adyala, Rawalpindi was beaten up cruelly by the prison staff due to his Christian faith. He was coming to church for Morning Prayer in the jail. A church is built in jail and local priest visit them on weekly basis, according to Safder Chuadhry, Shahbaz Bhatti – Federal Minister for Minorities, assured to provide funds for the said church in 2010, but didn’t fulfill his words.

On March 01, 2014 Tariq Chaman, President and Shamim Masih, Secretary General, Minority Journalist Association Islamabad went to the hospital to see the injured prisoner. The scar mark on his body, clearly tell his brutal punishment, he faced. Peter told that a huge circle has been made in front of the quarters where he was beaten up. He also alleged that prisoners are forced to run from one quarter to another are beaten up until they faint.

 

Peter John is charged to theft and his case is under trail under section 683 PP.
