Pakistan on Protest Call against US for Jerusalem Move

On Thursday 8 December the roads which lead to American Consulate in Lahore had been completely sealed with containers. A large number of security personnel had been deployed around the US Consulate building in Karachi to prevent any untoward incident.

Pakistan has condemned the US move and urged the United States to review its decision in order to avoid the potentially grave repercussions in the region and beyond.

The protest call was given by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq. He said that the US president has risked the global peace with this decision. “Trump’s Jerusalem move is like adding fuel to the fire”, the JI chief said.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan expressed on early Thursday morning and told Muslim nations around the world to get united against the US move.

Today in Karachi, after Friday Prayer, the Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen has taken out a protest in Nazimabad, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Banaras, Tanzeem-e-Islami at the Karachi Press Club and the Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) at North Nazimabad.

In the federal capital, the JI has protested at Aabpara, the MWM in G-6 and lawyers at the F-8 district courts.
In Rawalpindi, a protest was taken out at Choor Chowk.

The IJT took out a protest at the US Consulate, situated near the press club. Moreover, Hafiz Saeed’s Jamaatud Dawa has taken out a protest at Chauburji while the JI is protesting at Masjid-e-Shuhada.

Similarly, lawyers protested at GPO Chowk on Mall Road, located next to the Lahore High Court.
In Peshawar, the Difa-e-Pakistan Council, an amalgamation of religious parties, took out a protest outside the Peshawar Press Club while the JI was protesting outside the Mahabat Khan Mosque and the IJT on Kohat Road.

Trump’s decision to recognize the disputed city of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital came late on Wednesday night which upended decades of careful US policy and ignored dire warnings of a historic misstep that could add fuel to a surge of violence in the Middle East.
