Pakistani Christian Patras Masih Accused of Blasphemy in Lahore


On 19 February, Patras Masih 17 years old who boy lives in Dhair village Shadra Town Lahore, is accused of blasphemy by Hafiz Awais with the allegation of sharing blasphemous content on social media. Patras Masih lost his cell phone a few days earlier and someone post blasphemous content on his facebook account.

According to a report, Patras Masih was accused of under the section 295 C of Pakistan penal code. The First Investigation Report (FIR) says that Patras is charged for 174/18 on the complaint of Hafiz Awais.

Locals turned into a huge mob of about 3000 people, demanding to execute Patras. The local police was unable to control the aggressive crowd of Muslims outside the police station and outside Patras Masih’s residence and raising slogans to behead him.

The police blocked the roads and put cordon to keep the other citizens away from Shadra town in order to keep the situation under control.

To control the situation and save the lives of his community Patras Masih surrendered himself at 6 p.m.

According to an eye witness the angry protestors were holding petrol bottles with them and surouded their houses in the evening at 5 p.m. They came with the determination to burn the houses of Christians therefore most of the Christian families fled from the Shadra town to save their lives and took shelter somewhere.Their empty houses were reported of looting.

It is requested to the Christian community to pray for their Christian brothers and sisters living in Pakistan that may Lord protect them and save his Son Patras Masih from this allegation during the sacred Lent Season.
