Pakistani Christian Psychologist Saleem Massey has built a hospital in the village Qila Natha Singh- a remote area of Punjab Province. Pastor Massey is resolutely determined to serve the most oppressed and underprivileged people in the society. Qila Natha Singh is a Muslim majority village more than 90 kilometers away from Lahore.
The Good Shepherd Christian Hospital will be the first hospital built by a Pakistani Christian in Punjab province. The initiative has received a warm welcome by the villagers, as the facility will be inaugurated next year. On October 13, a thanksgiving prayer was organized by locals.
Local Christians attended this prayer service; as they will be benefited by this facility. Founder Pastor Massey maintains that building a hospital in Lahore could have been profitable but he chose Qila Natha Singh because he wanted to serve the oppressed.
Pastor Massey initiated this project in 2017 as the construction work of the two-story building began. Most of the funds for the construction work were generated by the fund raising campaign carried out by sons of Pastor Massey. Pakistani Christian politician Tariq Masih Gill, a supporter of this initiative was quoted by a news site saying: “A similar project increases trust in the silent minority. The cross of 10 feet (about three meters) positioned on the facade of the new hospital, will give a sense of pride and will be the testimony of Christianity on the main road”.
