David Chalmers Alesworth, (A.R.B.S.) was born 1957 in Oxshott in Surrey, UK. He is a Pakistan-based English artist. He studied art at the Wimbledon School of Art, though originally trained as a sculptor.
In 1987, he moved to Pakistan and took on with the popular visual culture of South Asia and with local crafts such as truck decoration. In mid-to-late 90s, he started working with truck artists and had some highly praised installations to his credit.
The central themes of his work are distinctively “environmental degradation” and “nuclear proliferation” his weighty works like Two Bombs Kiss in 1993 gained him much appreciation.
Daid Chalmers Alesworth is engaged in teaching art at various Pakistani institutions including the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. In recent times, he has also acted as a juror for the Kara Film Festival.
