Pakistani Premier Nawaz Sharif, to undergo an open-heart surgery today in London. Prior to his surgery, he has been flooded by well wishes from across the country and the international community. The Indian PM Narendra Modi, wished Pakistani PM speedy recovery ahead of the surgery.
On Saturday, the Indian Premier called his Pakistani counter-part and extended well wished for his speedy recovery. “My best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif Sahab for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery & good health,” Indian PM Modi tweeted.
Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had confirmed on Friday, that the Pakistani PM will be undergoing a heart surgery in UK. He further explained that the doctors had advised PM Nawaz Sharif to undergo an open-heart surgery, which will be followed by a week-long rest in the hospital. “The prime minister will travel after one week, on doctor’s permission,” he added. A senior Governmental official said, “Because the prime minister will be on a ventilator after Tuesday’s operation and still recovering on Friday.”
Meanwhile, in PM’ absence, Ishaq Dar, the Finance Minister and a close ally of the Premier will be overseeing the governmental affairs. However, as per the law, Ishaq Dar will have no recognized power to make decisions outside the authority granted to him as finance minister.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister’s Prayer Team has urged Christians across the country to pray for the premier. The Chairman of the Prime Minister’ Prayer Team, Bishop Yaqub Paul and other team members have extended well wishes and prayers for the PM and are urging Pakistani Christians to pray for PM’ speedy recovery.
