Pastor Samuel Khokhar, invokes Inspector General of Punjab Police to make sure that churches are protected from any sort of vandalism and that clergymen are treated with rightful veneration. His plea comes after an incident of vandalism in a Lahore church during prayer service. The police rampage at United Christian Church, gave rise to lurid outcry by the Christians.
Pastor Samuel Khokhar from Haggai Institute said that it has become inevitable that police should the authorities should provide fool proof security at the churches especially during prayer services. “IG Punjab Police should make sure that churches are well protected and the Christian clerics are venerated.”
This invocation comes after a reprehensible incident in Lahore, on June 12, Sunday a police constable Amir Abdullah sacrilegiously stormed into the United Christian Church in Fazalia Colony, and ordered the worshiping congregants to discontinue their service. Moreover, when Pastor Riaz Rehmat tied to bar him from hindering the church service, Head-constable Amir Abdullah slapped him and uttered derogatory remarks about the congregants.
“Christians have been a living in this country since last 68 years, and have been instrumental in national progress,” Pastor Samuel Khokhar asserted. “We the Christian Pakistanis, should not be forced to feel insecure additionally our religious leaders should be treated with reverence as it due to the religious leaders in any society.”
