Peshawar: 42-year-old Christian woman injured in “All Saints Church blasts” succumbs to injuries

Another Christian woman injured in the All Saints Church blasts, passes away on July 13, Wednesday. The wounded Christian woman namely Cecilia had contracted cancer as result of a ball bearing that was still present in her body. In 2013, twin suicide bombings hit Peshawar’ All Saints Church which the deadliest attack on a church in Pakistan.

Christian injured in Peshawar church blasts dies after 3 years

42-year-old Cecilia was critically injured when a ball bearing hit her legs and various other parts of her body. Cecilia’ husband Falaksher said that tibia bone, on the lower left leg, was fractured. The ball bearings had injured her body from the inside. She had been surviving from the last three years, however, in March earlier this year, she complained of pain in ribs.

After a thorough check-up, doctors diagnosed her with cancer which was caused by the ball bearing in her body. “We took her to the hospital where doctors diagnosed her with cancer as the ball bearing was present in the body, spreading the disease inside her,” Cecilia’ husband said. “We are still losing loved ones after the attack.”

Deceased Cecilia underwent several surgeries in order to get the shards removed from her body. “We still fear we are not safe here; thousands of people died during the last decade but no one is doing anything to safeguard those remaining. Even on Sunday, when we gather at church, we arrange security by ourselves,” Cecilia’ uncle said.
