PESHAWAR: Pakistan mourns the dreadful attack on Army Public School, Peshawar where 132 children and 9 staff members including the Principal were assassinated.
The nation is grieved and bereaved over the loss of 132 innocent lives as a result of gross attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School. All seven militants were also killed in the operation that was carried out by Pakistan Army in the school. What’s more 124 children sustained injuries as a result of firing and blasts. The attack was launched around 10.30 am when a group of at least five insurgents, reportedly in military uniforms and suicide jackets, equipped with heavy weapons, stormed in the school. DG ISPR says 7 soldiers and officers of Pakistan Army got injured during the operation. After an operation of 5 and half hours DG ISPR declared that the school building had been cleared from all but one block.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) later on claimed responsibility of the attack which was one of the deadliest attacks in country’s history. Giving account of the harrowing attack, an eye witness said the terrorists set to fire the vehicle in which they had arrived before they stormed the school building.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif described the attack as a “national tragedy unleashed by savages”. “These were my children. This is my loss. This is the nation’s loss,” he added.
