Prayer Leader Fined And Sentenced To 10 Years Jail For Hate Speech

Maulana Abdul Ghani was arrested by police in Qaimpur when he targeted a religious sect and delivered hate speech about them about two months ago.

Judge Khalid Arshad, of the anti-terrorism court gave a ten year and four months jail sentence to the convicted prayer leader. He was also given a Rs.750,000 fine.

The anti terrorism court also announced judgments on four other cases of hate speech.

After being convicted of hate speech and possessing banned literature, Muhammad Waqas was sentenced to 110 days in jail and fined Rs5000.

Another court sentenced Rafique Ahmad to 105 days in jail and fined him Rs5000 for possessing banned literature.
Muhammad Zahid was sentenced to imprisonment for 105 days and fined Rs3000 for possessing literature containing objectionable content.

Talib Hussain was sentenced to three months in prison and fined Rs5000 after objectionable material was recovered from him.
