Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’ Minority Wing and Masiha Millat Party staged a protest against the heinous sexual assault on a 14-year-old Christian girl in Farooqabad. The protest was staged outside the Lahore Press Club on July 12, Tuesday. The agitated Christians were carrying placards and chanting slogans against the horrendous incident.
The protesters demanded justice for 14-year-old Christian girl victim of gang rape in Farooqabad, in Sheikhupura district. The victim Sonia Masih daughter of Nasar Masih was subjected to atrocious sexual assault. Sonia Masih was left in critical condition as the rapists fled. Despite the fact that police had filed an FIR against the rapist Iqrar Hussain, they expressed dissatisfaction over the investigative progress.
At this occasion, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’ lawmaker Shunila Ruth claimed that the main culprit hailed from the ruling party which impedes the police’ progress in the case. “Police is reluctant to take action the rapists,” she said. She went on to continue that the incident must be condemned in strongest possible terms.
Aslam Pervez Sahotra led the protest from the Masiha Millat Party’ side. Workers of MMP were present at this occasion, along with women from civil society and others from every walk of life. The participants included Doctor Nosheen Hamid, Doctor Yasmeen Arshad, Sadia Sohail, and various others.
