Quetta: A Christian advocate perishes in Civil Hospital suicide blast

A Christian Advocate Arthur Victim among those who expires as a result of yesterday’s carnage at the Civil Hospital in Quetta. Advocate Arthur Victor was present at the emergency department of the Civil Hospital when the suicide bomber struck.

Bomb blast in Quetta Civil Hospital

The attack took place on August 8, Monday when a suicide bomber targeted the emergency of the hospital where at least 100 mourners including predominantly lawyers and media personnel had gathered following killing of the President of Baluchistan Bar Advocate Bilal Anwar Kasi.

A splinter group of TTP had claimed responsibility of the attack. While briefing the media about the nature of the explosion, bomb disposal unit chief Abdul Razzaq said “The bomber had strapped some eight kilograms of explosives packed with ball bearings and shrapnel on his body.”

Baluchistan Home Secretary Akbar Harifal stated: “The blast took place after a number of lawyers and some journalists had gathered at the hospital following the death of the president of the Baluchistan Bar Association in a separate shooting incident this morning.”

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also condemned the blast, expressing his “deep grief and anguish over the loss of precious human lives” in the attack. “No one will be allowed to disturb the peace in the province that has been restored thanks to the countless sacrifices by the security forces, police and the people of Baluchistan,” he stated.
