These cheques have been handed out under the plan called “Easter Loan Scheme,” which is a joint effort of the Ministry of Human Rights, Eternal Life Ministries and Idara-e-Akhuwat. These loans are being handed out to the needy Christians so that they may be able to set up small-scale businesses of their own.

Previously on April 5, a ceremony was organized by the Eternal Life Ministries where cheques were handed out to the penurious Christians. This ceremony was held in Lahore’s Bahar Colony on April 5, Wednesday. Federal Minister for Human Rights Kamran Michael attended the ceremony as Chief Guest and also distributed the cheques. At this occasion, Chairman of the Eternal Life Ministries Pastor Anwar Fazal, former MPA Amir Joel Sahotra, MNA Romina Alam and representative of Idara-e-Akhuwat Mr. Atif and other pastors were also presented.

Federal Minister handed out cheques to two hundred and thirty three Christians each granted a loan varying from 20,000 to 50,000 Rupees. This money has been granted to the indigent so that they can set up their own businesses and earn their livelihoods. “We are encouraging youngsters to start their own businesses,” Federal Minister said while addressing the attendees.

This has been an exceptional step by the Idara-e-Akhuwat as they are providing interest free loans to the deprived Christians so that they can also become useful citizens of the country. Before Easter these loans are scheduled to be granted to 1200 needy Christian families in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.

Christians who had received these cheques appreciated the steps taken by the Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif. They said that initiation of this scheme was a positive step towards the betterment of the country.
