Afzal Baig who hails from Pakistan’s Christian community came up trumps earlier as he was appointed as Civil Judge in District Khanewal. “Two of my elder brothers are law graduates and one of them was serving in judiciary, therefore dream to sit in the chair having “Chand Sitara” has always haunted my mind,” Afzal Baig says. “This was where I got my inspiration,” he divulged.
While acquainting CIP about his childhood, he told that he was born in Toba Tek Singh. “My father’s name is Aslam Baig. He worked as laborer and provided us arena to build our dreams. Despite his meager resources, he put his utmost efforts to get us educated. My mother has always been a housewife who has continuously steered us in the right orientation,” he said admiringly.
Afzal Baig born on August 20 is the youngest among his siblings. His eldest brother Akram Baig, is currently serving in Pakistan Air Force. Ashraf Baig, younger to him is serving in Judiciary, while his third brother Arshad Baig, serves in WAPDA. “It’s a big blessing of God Almighty that all of us are serving on gazetted posts,” he exclaimed. Afzal has two sisters who are happily married.
“Being youngest, I have received valuable guidance, love and care from my family.” Further directing praises to God, he says that the accomplishments of him and his brothers are “solely the outcome of hard work, guidance and prayers of our parents and ultimately the blessing of God Almighty.”
When asked about his inspiration, he said “My family has played a primary role in achieving my goal. From the very first step, i.e. inspiration, till the achievement of the post, they (family) have been very supportive and encouraging. The position I have attained is all because of the confidence shown by my family on me.”
Afzal Baig studied from St. Albert High school in Gojra, where he securing the Role of Honor. “I completed F.Sc from Govt. College, Gojra,” he detailed. He graduated from Punjab University, Lahore as he was eyeing for the post of Civil Judge. “For this purpose, I did LLB from G.C University, Faisalabad in 2012. To fulfill the requirement for the post of Civil Judge, I moved to Lahore and started my career as practicing lawyer at Lahore High Court, Lahore,” he disclosed.
In 2015, having an experience of two years under his belt, he then applied for the post he had been dreaming of. Paving his way through a series of tests and interview, he was selected as a Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate. “Now, I am serving as Civil Judge in District Khanewal,” he said with great pride and joy.
After setting an illustrious example for Christian community in the country, he said “As Christ has said ‘you are the light of the world’, so you have to carry yourself in such a way that you become the beacon for the rest of the world.”
He urged the Christian youth to strive towards their goals being ideals for other, encompassing their personal, spiritual and social aspects, their life must be a role model for the others. “Be rest assure that you are given equal opportunities to excel in every field of life.”
“Merely getting education is not sufficient, get quality education and opt for the competitive exams as well. Instead of putting scattered efforts, set your goal and get committed to it. Your commitment will surely be fruitful,” he urges youngsters.
