Sabeen, along with her mother, left the premises of T2F nearly an hour after the session had ended, around 9pm. Armed motorcyclists intercepted them from both sides and opened fire. Sabeen was shot four times and died on the spot, while her mother was shot twice.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA, speaking to the media outside the mortuary, revealed that Sabeen had been receiving threats since the past few days. The progressive activist and organizer who ran Pakistan’s first-ever hackathon and led a human rights and a peace-focused nonprofit known as The Second Floor (T2F).
T2F had on Friday organized a talk on Balochistan: ‘Unsilencing Balochistan Take 2: In Conversation with Mama Qadeer, Farzana Baloch & Mir Mohammad Ali Talpur.’ Sabeen had left T2F after attending the session, when she was targeted.
