Samundari: Christians lambasted, police reluctant to register an FIR against alleged assailants

Seven Christians were subjected to heinous physical torture on September 16, Friday evening. Victims identified as Shahzad Masih, Zahid Masih, Hanif Masih, Arif Masih, Rabat Masih, Sharifan and Perveen Bibi are residents of Chak 172/GB, Saundari, District Faisalabad. The cause of the assault remains undisclosed. Nonetheless, police is exhibiting reluctance in registering an FIR of the incident.

Christians persecuted in Pakistan

Soon after the news of the incident spread, a rights activist Khalid Shahzad met with the victims and scrutinized the incident. In keeping with his report, the victims are residents of Chak 172/GB. Samundari district Faisalabad. On September 16, about 35 to 40 Muslim men brandishing sticks and rods stormed into the Christians’ houses.

They attacked women in the houses not sparing children. Khalid Shahzad reported the assailants were drunk and kept on abusing the Christians. They bashed the Christians and rendered them severely injured. The wounded were then transported to a hospital where they are receiving medical attention.

Are allegedly naming few men to be nominated in the FIR. After collecting the facts, Khalid Shahzad and few others arrived at the police station and moved an application imploring registration of an FIR against the culprits. “We hope that our FIR request will be served for justice.”
