Authorities have issued orders to the concerned authorities to ensure foolproof security arrangements at 783 churches across the Gujranwala Division. This security warning has come as Christians gear up to celebrate Easter on April 16. The authorities have directed for ‘foolproof security’ at churches during the prayer services scheduled in connection to Easter.
Warnings have been issued to ensure foolproof security at the churches while instructions have been issued to deploy Commandos from Elite Force at the churches that fall in Category A. In order to provide infallible security to Christians this Easter, authorities have directed installation of CCTV Cameras inside and outside the churches, moreover, walk through gates are to be set up at the entrances of the churches.
Christians are all set to celebrate Easter with religious zeal and fervor, as Easter related special prayer services will start from April 9 on wards. Authorities have placed 16 out of 783 churches from Gujranwala Division in Category A; whereas, 225 churches have been placed in Category B, 542 churches in Category C.
Police authorities revealed that about 7200 police personnel including volunteers will be deployed at the churches. Moreover, Regional Police Officer Muhammad Tahir held a meeting with representatives of Christian and Muslim communities and members of interfaith harmony committee.
During the meeting, Muhammad Tahir told the attendees that foolproof security will be ensured at the churches during prayer services on Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter. “We will take strict action against elements spreading hatred and discord in the society,” he said.
