PML- N leader, and Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Senator Kamran Michael paid a visit to the Archbishop of Catholic Diocese in Pakistan where he discussed the preparations being done for the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to Pakistan.
Senator Kamran Michael met with Bishop Joseph Coutts – Archbishop of Roman Catholic Diocese in Karachi; and discussed in detail the preparations which are underway for the forthcoming visit of the Pontiff to Pakistan. Both the leaders met at the Bishop House in Karachi. Senator Kamran Michael and Bishop Joseph Coutts termed Pope’s visit to Pakistan as a positive gesture which will cast an encouraging impact on the country’s image.
At this occasion, Senator Kamran Michael told Bishop Joseph Coutts that during his visit to the Vatican, he met with Pope Francis. He said that during the meeting, Pope Francis prayed for the Pakistanis devastated by the plague of terrorism. He said that the Pontiff also prayed for the government of Pakistan, the nation and the government machinery. Furthermore, Senator Kamran Michael told Bishop Joseph Coutts that during the meeting with Pope Francis, he conveyed him an invitation to visit Pakistan on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif.
Pope Francis in response accepted the Pakistani Premier’s invitation to visit Pakistan, which was confirmed by a notification sent by the Vatican to the Pakistani media.
