The prayer service was attended by Christians from the neighborhood, who prayed for the victims’ families and other survivors of the mob-attack. This service was organized by Welcome Jesus Church of Pakistan.

The adversity was brewed by alleged allegations of desecration of the holy Quran by three Christians Mukhtar Masih, Talib Masih and his son Imran Masih. They were accused of allegedly desecrating papers inscribed with verses of the Holy Quran at a wedding ceremony.
