Sheikhupura: Pakistani Christian Arslan Masih laid to rest, Christians call for Justice

Christian teenager Arslan Masih laid to rest after being brutally lynched by policemen in Jabhran village in District Sheikhupura. Arslan was murdered by police on October 8, Sunday when he was attending classes at his academy. Mourners included Arslan’s friends and family in addition to large number of local Christians.

Arslan’s funeral and burial was held on October 10, Tuesday. Christians from all walks of life attended the funeral, afterwards workers and leaders of Pakistan Masihi Etihad party staged a rally and demanded due punishment for the perpetrators. Arslan’s family and others protested under the leadership of Emmanuel Athar Julius-Chairman of Pakistan Masihi Etihad Party.

Lastly the protestors filed a complaint at local police station, at the same time as the family of Arslan Masih and others urged the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the incident and make sure that the policemen involved in murdering Arslan were hooked.

Arslan was student of class 8th, who perished as a result of ghastly torture by at least six policemen. Arslan Masih son of Mushtaq Masih was lynched by the police men in front of 60 students. This heart wrenching incident unfolded on October 9, Sunday when the deceased was attending his academy classes.

Isaac tv reporter Saleem Iqbal revealed that Arslan Masih was lynched as a result of his denial to convert to Islam. He says that Arslan’s mother has verified the fact that few months back, Arslan’s class fellows pressurized him to convert to Islam. This proselytization proposal ended in a quarrel. Saleem Iqbal further reported that Arslan’s classmates had conspired against him and got him lynched at the hands of police.
