Special arrangements have been made to ensure foolproof security on the occasion of Christmas this year. In this regard, the Sukkur Police has stepped up security measures in connection with Christmas celebrations which have already started. In this regard, the police are making sure to patrol the churches round-the-clock around all the churches in the city.
While speaking in this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police Sukkur, Amjad Sheikh, told the media that he has already issued necessary directions to make sure that the security at the churches remains fail safe for the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
He further told that he had direct the concerned Additional Superintendent of Police and Sub Divisional police officers to keep the security level at high alert in order to ward off any kind of unpleasant incident that mars social harmony. He said that his force is all set to put in all-out efforts to ensure that the law and order is maintained and that Christian community is well protected.
SSP Amjad Sheikh also issued orders to his police force to be vigilant especially at public places were large crowds are expected. He said that police is doing all it can to prevent heinous incidents of terrorism; he further explained that security personnel in plain clothes will be deployed at churches and public places.
He said that the security plan prepared by Sukkur police also includes police patrolling at places like railway station, bus terminal, bus stops, markets, parks, hotels and other places of the city. He ensured the Christian community that police force will use all their resources to provide all possible security on Christmas.
As Christmas draws nigh, Christians in Pakistan are gearing up to celebrate the festive occasion with fervency. For this reason, large numbers of Christians turn out in markets and bazaars while on Christmas Christians throng to public places such as parks, hotels and other recreational places.
