Terrorists attack Peshawar’s Christian Colony: Area cleared as security forces bring off a successful operation

Terrorist attack at Peshawar’s Christian Colony foiled after security forces carried out a successful operation against the terrorists. Four gunmen launched the attacked at 5:50 am in the morning, and started indiscriminate firing inuring the security guard. Residents claim they heard heavy gunfire followed by recurrent explosions.

Soon after the attack, Army personnel responded by engaging the terrorists in a shootout. All four gunmen are reportedly killed, while security forces are searching houses in the colony. The attackers were wearing suicide vests and carrying firearms.Two of the attackers reportedly detonated their suicide jackets while two others were killed by security forces. Two soldiers, a policeman and two civilian security guards were wounded.

In this regard, Army spokesperson Lt General Asim Bajwa stated: “Operation against terrorists in Warsak concluded. All four suicide bombers killed. COAS appreciated army, Frontier Corps and police for prompt and effective response and defeating the terrorists’ attempt.”

A police official said: “There are four bodies of terrorists and they look like suicide bombers as some of them are in pieces. One Christian has been killed while two private security guards Khud Ali and Najeem and one police constable Sajjad have been wounded seriously. The attackers were killed in exchange of fire.”
