The Case of Younus Masih likely to be Influenced by unknown men


The court hearing of blasphemy convict Younis Masih proceeded under influence of some unknown men.


Younis Masih was not present at the court because of  ill health, while his defense lawyer Mr. Naseeb Anjum,Advocate – H igh Court represented him. Younis Masih received a death sentence, upon charges of blasphemy under section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code on 30th May, 2007. Wherefore an appeal against death sentence was filed in the High Court, during which time Younis Masih has been imprisoned.


The court clerk of the defense lawyer of Younis Masih told, Mr. Sardar Mushtaq GillChairman of  LEAD, that there were 16 or more people present in the court room who apparently pressurized the judge.

These suspicious people tried to influence the proceedings. This case is heard by a bench comprising Justice Najam-ul-Hassan and Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa. However, the case was adjourned for 23rd of January 2013.
