ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court turns down Punjab governments judicial inquiry recommendations.
A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, declines the provincial government’s recommendations, to take on judicial inquiry of the Badami Bagh incident as a consequence of which roughly 200 houses were flamed by a raging mob.
The Apex court viewed that judicial inquiries were carried out, for the sake of face saving. The court remarked that the officer nominated in the recommendation of the judicial commission on Gojra incident, continues in his office. The court inquired why an inquiry officer should be provided when previous recommendations of the judicial inquiry have not been implemented yet. The court concluded that a judicial inquiry officer faces disgrace when his recommendations are not implemented.
