The Supreme Court of Pakistan Turns Down the Appeal to re-open the Rimsha Masih Case

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed the appeal made against the Islamabad High Court’s decision to drop Blasphemy case against 14-years old Christian girl Rimsha Masih.

The appeal against the acquittal of Rimsha Masih from Blapshemy charges was made by Mr. Malik Ummad through his lawyer, with an intend to get the case of Rimsha Masih  re-opened. The bench which gave its verdict to the appeal included, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Ifftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed and Justice Gulzar Ahmad. The bench unanimously adjudged the appeal to be dismissed.



During the court hearing, Mr. Abdul Hameed Rana, his assistant Mr.Akmal Bhatti and the Defense lawyer of Rimsha Masih Mr. Tahir Naveed Chaudhry were present in the court. “It sends out a positive image of Pakistan in the international community that there is justice for all and that society has risen up for justice and tolerance,” said Tahir Naveed Chaudhry.
