She was resident of the Kalampete village in Kibuku District in Uganda. Reports reveal that a mob arrived at her house and asked for her husband, George Mwanika. He was not at home at that time. When they could not find him, they became infuriated.

“Your husband has followed the religion of his brother, and we had warned you people to stop these activities, but our message has landed on deaf ears.”

According to the statement made by Mwanika’s 13-year-old daughter, the agitated mob of Muslims then “dragged our mother outside the house as she screamed and cried for help.” She was found in a critical condition bathed in blood some 100 metres away from her house. Her husband and neighbours were finally able to locate the her and tried to rush her to the hospital, however, she could not survive and succumbed to her injuries.

George Mwanika, her husband says, “I know that the attackers are looking for me. We are seeking God’s protection and His peace. May God give me the courage to continue sharing the love of Christ to those who are lost, as Jesus said we should love our enemies.”

Despite the fact that, Uganda is a Christian majority country, the rise of Islamic extremism can not be disregarded. There have been cases of persecution of Christians at the hands of Islamic extremists. Earlier this year, a Christian woman was gang raped by Muslims and another Christian woman was poisoned and killed.

Moreover, Muslims who convert to Christianity are being attacked and in the wake of this situation, the government of Uganda has already expressed deep concerns about growing Islamic extremism in the country.
