A Prayer vigil for the assassinated qawali singer Amjad Sabri was held in front of the Pakistani High Commission on June 26, Sunday. Pakistani community in the UK participated in this prayer vigil and offered prayers for the celebrated singer’ soul. This prayer vigil was also attended by leader from several UK-based social groups of Pakistanis, and representatives of the political parties of Pakistanis.
At this occasion, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) heaped condemnation upon the targeted killing of Amjad Sabri. At this occasion, the All Pakistan Muslim League leadership present took the Pakistan government to task expressing discontentment over the protective measures for religious minorities and their places of worship.Moreover, the APML leaders expressed deep concerns over precariously increasing hostility and aggression towards the religious minorities in Pakistan.
The renowned Qawal Amjad Sabri was shot dead in Karachi on Wednesday, June 22. Two unknown assailants fired at Amjad Sabri’ vehicle in Liaquatabad area. He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The incident triggered nationwide outpouring of grief. A splinter group of the terrorist outfit Talibaan claimed responsibility of the killing claiming Sabri was gunned down as he was guilty of committing blasphemy.
