US Embassy warns of terrorist attacks in Islamabad during Christmas and New Year holidays

There might terror strikes in Islamabad on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, US Embassy has warned.

According to details, the US embassy in Pakistan has issued warning of likely terrorist strikes in Islamabad during the holiday period of Christmas and New Year. The US Embassy has also warned that the terrorists might be eyeing for the crowded areas like places of worship and shopping centres in particular.

An official statement issued from the Embassy of US in Pakistan said, “The American Embassy in Islamabad has received threat information regarding possible terrorist attacks against locations in Islamabad in late December, especially during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period.

Possible targets include places of worship and shopping centres. US citizens are reminded to review the active travel warning for Pakistan, and minimize the number and duration of trips to public markets, restaurants, hotels, places of worship, and other locations where large numbers of people congregate,” the warning said.

While the US Embassy issued a statement of December 18, that the American citizens who currently in Pakistan should exercise particular caution during the holiday season and at holiday festivals or events. Moreover, the American government personnel have been directed to restrict their movements amidst these warnings.
