RAWALPINDI: The All Pakistan Christian League, APCL complains over the fact that Electoral system for reserves seats of Minorities is unconstitutional.
In a write up, the All Pakistan Christian League Premier, Professor Salamat Akhter reproaches the Electoral system in Pakistan whilst remains dubious about the transparency of the Election Commission. He says, “ The elections to the reserved seats for the minorities in Pakistan are unconstitutional.”
While on the other hand, a toiler for All Pakistan Christian League, Amir Riaz presented a statement on this frame of reference. A copy of this communiqué is as follows:
Elections of Minorities to the Reserved Seats vide Proportionate representation are unlawful rather unconstitutional because they are a flagrant violation of the Article 226 of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973.
It was stated by Professor Salamat Akhter President of APCL, while talking to a three member delegation of the European Union Election Commission headed by Mr. Edward Horgan that called on him on Friday the 26th of April, 2013 at 1:00 pm at his residence in Gordon College Rawalpindi.
He added that representation from legal bodies to the National Assembly was not a gift of any ruler of Pakistan. The Christians of Pakistan bought those seats with their blood on August 30th 1912 but unfortunately today the political parties of Pakistan are selling these seats to wealthy people belonging to minorities’ communities, for lakhs of Rupees.
He further said that,”We want Election not Selection.” We want Double Vote as given to the Muslims in India in 1909 by the English. European Union Observation Mission thanked him for knowledge about Elections for the Minorities; which had never been imparted to them by any leader before and for hospitality.
