Two years after the heinous killing of a Christian couple in Kot Radha Kishan, no justice has been served to the perpetrators despite the availability of eye witnesses and other credible evidence. On November 4, 2014 a mob of fanatics burnt Shahzad and Shama alive in a brick kiln in the presence of police.

In keeping with the case history, a Christian couple Shama and Shahzad were burnt alive in a brick kiln over charges of alleged blasphemy. However, it was later established that they couple had not been guilty of committing blasphemy. Followed by the heinous killing, the government pledged a compensation of 5 Million Rupees and 10 acres of land to the children of the Shahzad and Shama.

A local court had granted bail to the prime suspect in the case Yousaf Gujjar who is also the owner of the brick kiln where Shahzad and Shama were lynched. Previously, Advocate Aneeqa Maria, a Christian lawyer overseeing this case said that this case is being impeded by the influence of the locals. Witnesses are backing out due to threats from the perpetrators, she explained.

She further said that the witnesses refuse to give statement against the perpetrators. “Now every witness is threatened and refused to recognize the accused, who have brutally murdered the Couple, but the little eyes are watching and their evidence is much stronger than anyone’s before GOD.”

Recently, reports emerged that Iqbal Masih elder brother of Shahzad Masih was harassed in order to prevent him from pursuing the case against the perpetrators. Iqbal Masih was purportedly blocked by few men while he was returning from the court after the lynching case hearing at the court.
