VATICAN: White smoke bears the news of election of new Pope.
Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio has been elected as the 266th Roman Catholic pontiff. He takes the name of Francis after accepting his election as the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the archbishop of Buenos Aires becomes Pope Francis– the first pontiff to take that name. The new Pope appeared at the balcony over the entrance to the Saint Peter’s Basilica after the white smoke tipped out from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel.
