World Interfaith Harmony Week Celebrated By UIPM.

World Inter-faith Harmony Week was celebrated by Universal Interfaith Peace Mission (UIPM) from February 01 to February 10, 2014.

The movement preaches every religion to follow the path and teachings of their respective religions, said Allama G R Chishti.

On February 01, 2014 a breakfast was organized for members of different convictions at Balmik Hindu Temple, Lalkurti, Rawalpindi. Om Prakash president of Hindu Panchayat Committee Rawalpindi along with Pandit Chana Lal, Gudu Kumari, and Universal Interfaith Peace Mission Chairman Dr AGR Chishti had breakfast with Christians and Hindus of the area. Hindu leaders admired UIPM’s efforts for holding such an event for inter-faith harmony’s purpose.

 

On February 2, a mass prayer was aranged at Baptist Church, Chashma Town, Islamabad. UIPM Chairman AGR Chishti offered prayers for inter-faith harmony, along with Pastor Arif Sardar and Pastor Aftab Ahmed and others. The pastors supported the issue saying Muslim-Christian associations are essential and requirement of the hour for shared survival.

 

On February 3, for students of Divine Light Public School, Islamabad, videos and speeches of different leaders from Islamic world on inter-faith harmony were screened. Dr AGR Chishti described the students about inter-faith harmony and its significance.

 

Universal Interfaith Peace Mission organized an Inter-faith Harmony Conference at Islamabad Hotel, on February 04, which was attended by, Sardar Muhammad Yusuf, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony, Afrasiab Khan Khattak, Senator, Chairman Functional Committee on Human Rights of Senate of Pakistan, Malik Amjad Husain Alvi, Chairman Tanzeem ul Aawan Pakistan and President Amnesty International Rawapindi/Islamabad, Zubair Ahmed Farooq Advocate, Global Trustee of United Religions Initiative for Asia, Islamabad Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chairman Zafar Bakhtawari, Pandit Chana Lal and others. The speakers said that when pointless bloodshed in the name of religion is originating hysteria around the globe, it necessitates making intensive hard work to bring together faiths and cultures on a platform and for that goal inter-faith harmony is the best possible solution. They also tried to drive out the false impressions about inter-faith harmony saying most people consider inter-faith harmony as a movement, which hinder in religions. Inter-faith harmony is not in opposition of any religion.

On February 06, Universal Interfaith Peace Mission organized a ceremonial at Sir Syed Grammar School and College, Rawalpidi, which was graced with presence of Principal Hafsa Saeed and General Secretary Qazi Hafeez ur Rehman advocate. They welcomed the inter-faith harmony idea of UIPM.

 

At the Juma worshippers at Jamia Masjid Mai Saleem Akhtar, Islamabad, on February 07, Dr AGR Chishti spoke about inter-faith harmony’. He said that festivity of world inter-faith harmony week goes to ‘A Common Word between Us and You’, which has provided a common foundation to the world for peace and shed light on idea of inter-faith harmony in light of Quran and Sunnah. On Feb 10 Interfaith Conference was held at the Islamia University Bahawalpur, Bhawalnagar Campus, which was supervised over by Dr. Altaf Hussain Langrial, director of campus. Representatives from district Bahwalnagar, faculty members, social activists, students and people from all levels of life was present at the conference.
