17 year-old Harris Suleman dies as his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean.
Family spokeswoman Annie Hayat said the plane flown by 17-year-old Haris Suleman went down shortly after leaving Pago Pago in American Samoa Tuesday night. She said the body of Haris Suleman had been recovered, but crews were still looking for Pakistani-born Babar Suleman.The teenager’s sister, Hiba Suleman, said the trip had been a dream of her father’s for years and that her brother was also excited about it.
The father-son duo of Babar Suleman and Haris Suleman were flying from American Samoa Island to Hawaii in their Hawker Beechcraft Bonanza when their plane crashed within two minutes after they took off from the Pago Pago International Airport. The two left Indiana on June 19 in the hopes of breaking a world record and raising money for a non-profit organization that builds schools for the poor in Pakistan. Babar Suleman had more than ten years flying experience and said his son joined him on flights from age eight before they departed
